Run Run R.I.P.

~ George "Run Run" Jones shows us what Championship hardware looks like ~

Run Run died of an apparent heart attack at the team headquarters yesterday.

I am saddened to realize he will not be here in body for the next one; however, Run Run's spirit has always been a part of the Raiders and will always be. Like Jim Otto and Al Davis, you can't think "Raider" and leave out this man who has been on the sidelines since '63.

Here's one of Run Run (front row, 2nd from right) back in his roller derby days with the Bombers before he joined the Raiders (yes, hard to imagine but there was a time before Run Run was a Raider).

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Your loss is ours also.

Here's betting we clock the Rams today with a fist full o'rings for Run Run Jones!!!

A sticky thanks to Raider Dave for the Bombers pic.

The reason they called him "Run Run" was because everything he did, he did running. True Raider players know that. Suday, these players would have honored Run Run by playing with urgency. The player, particularly on offense, suck. We watched them stroll for four years now. It's time to find players more like Run Run.

George was bestowed the nickname "Run Run" in his pre-Raider Roller Derby days.

See this site of Roller Derby matches and note that in Listing #54, George "Run Run" Jones is part of the '59 Bomber lineup.

But you are right, Run Run always was scurrying around to help the players or buy a Raider fan a brew.

He will be missed as a true character.
